Job Summary
Serves as a capable professional under the direct supervision of Senior Associate or Associate Director. The Associate leads a mechanical design team or a multi-disciplinary MEP design team and schedules, organizes and executes the design work on projects of all scales. Candidate must be a Public Health Services (Domestic Water Services, Drainage Services, LPG/SNG System, Fire Protection Services) specialist. Must have professional qualification from relevant recognised professional body. Medical gas services and Exposure to external infrastructure network design will be an added advantage.

Job Duties:
Serves as a fully capable professional within a discipline
Lead the assigned team of Engineers and Technicians on a day to day basis and ensure that design excellence is achieved throughout
Responsible for the correctness, accuracy and complete multi-disciplinary coordination of the design documentation prepared by the assigned team
Ensures the quality of technical work produced by team meets AECOM’s Technical Excellence standards
Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, working drawings, develops details and edits specifications
Regularly reviews and checks their own deliverables for accuracy, efficiency and thoroughness ensuring delivery is as per AECOM’s Technical Excellence standards
Demonstrates a highly organized and systematic approach to producing a project. Understands the necessity to keep team and project tasks lists updated and complete
Demonstrates a high degree of Time Management skill and constantly seeks to streamline processes and procedures to increase quality and efficiency
Participates in engineering resource planning for the project and reporting project needs to senior team members
Routinely interacts with clients, contractors, local authority representatives and others using skills of persuasion and negotiation to resolve critical issues
Coordinate and develop responses to review comments, tender queries, contractor’s queries, etc.
Promotes teamwork within the MEP team (including the GDC), maintaining positive morale and instilling a strong engineering culture within the team
Understands and implements project management principles and able to work within project budgets which includes fees and designing to budget
Manage interface between design team / site supervision team ensuring proper design support is provided in a timely manner
Apply Safety in Design principles throughout all design stages of a project
Support junior staff in activities to develop their technical excellence
Take initiatives to develop design manuals, standard design documents, presentations, etc. to increase efficiencies, knowledge and awareness across the architectural practice
Keeps abreast of the latest software/ techniques to increase productivity while sharing knowledge with colleagues
Minimum Requirements

Full understanding of Safety in Design requirements and able to develop the principals with the design team

Developed understanding of scope definition and scope interface and ability to transmit the same to others
Developed presentation skills
Full knowledge of Statutory Authorities requirements, knowledge of codes, regulations and submission requirements
Developed knowledge of Fire & Life Safety principles
Developed knowledge of Sustainable Design principles
A good awareness of Autodesk Revit and managing projects in a BIM environment
Ability and will to mentor and provide support to junior staff members and spread knowledge across the wider architectural community within AECOM’s Middle East offices
Ability and motivated to update skills and expertise through continuing professional development (CPD) initiatives
Excellent command of English (written and spoken). Knowledge of other languages is an added value.
Experience:
Minimum 12 years post graduate experience
Proven related Public Health Services Design Experience (Domestic Water Services, Drainage Services, LPG/SNG System, Fire Protection Services) with a multidisciplinary International consultancy
Experience of working on large scale and high-rise projects including site experience
Medical gas services and Exposure to external infrastructure network design will be an added advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
BEng or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
International Accreditation preferred (CEng, MCIBSE, MSoPHE, MCIPHE or equivalent).
